Hello I'm Johnny Cash

It’s been decades since Johnny Cash posed for that iconic picture in front of the East Gates of Folsom Prison. Moments later he would walk through the gates and deliver a performance that would revive his career and make him a star. Here in front of those same gates sits the Man in Black. Seated on a stool, as he often was during a performance, the 7-foot tall bronze figure holds his guitar casually on his lap, and introduces himself. Hello, I'm Johnny Cash. Throughout Cash's career it was his practice to start performances by introducing himself, though after a while it was hard to imagine anyone on earth didn’t know who Johnny Cash was. These subtle gestures, a simple introduction, and a low perch on a humble stool, brought Cash closer to his audience and imparted a humility that made him more accessible to the everyday man.
